YZD Elektrik
The project was commissioned to Arikoglu Architects by YZD Elektrik, an electrical engineering and manufacturing firm, specialized in large scale building projects. YZD manufactures various electrical fuseboxes and panels. They were looking forward to a project that would have a large warehouse/industrial space and office spaces with various specific functions and amenities.
This 16.000m2 site is located in the East of Adana at an industrial zone named Haci Sabanci Organize Sanayi. The warehouse and office buildings adds up to a total of 5.725 m2 of construction area.
The main idea was to create and engage two pristine rectangular geometries that would house all the office and warehouse design programs. Considering the strong summer Sun in this specific climatic zone, it was of paramount importance to apply horizontal and vertical louvers on the building’s East and West facing façades. Solar panels on the roofs are used in order to generate electricity and provide a sustainable building, pleasant terraces and a rooftop grill area for possible social events have been all provided. The vertical circulation core accentuates itself with its peculiar massing when viewing the building’s silhouhette. In essence, it could be concluded that this project is a prime example of the long lasting Form Follows Function design principle.
Our goal is not to follow the current fashion in the ephemeral architectural trends that come and go, but to create timeless architecture immune to the inevitable obsoleteness due to the ever changing trends.
