Ilhan Muzaffer Arikoglu
İlhan Muzaffer Arıkoğlu 1922 – 1981
İlhan Muzaffer Arıkoğlu was born in Adana, Turkey on January 15, 1922. His father Damar Arıkoğlu was a Senator in the Turkish Republic National Parliment from 1922 to 1950. He graduated from Şişli Terraki Lissesi (Senior Highschool) in 1940 and from the İstanbul Technical University ( İ.T.Ü.) in 1946 as a Civil Engineer with a M.S. Degree.
- 1946-1947 Worked for Amac Co. İn İstanbul Turkey as a Field Supervisor.
- 1947-1949 Worked for Whiting Turner Co. İn Baltimore, Maryland as a Design Engineer and Field Supervisor.
- 1949-1950 Served in the Turkish Navy as a Reserve Officer
- 1950-1960 Self Employed in his own Architectural / Engineering firm in Adana, Turkey
- 1960-1967 Worked with Whiting Turner Contracting Co. İn Baltimore Maryland as the Head of Architectural Department.
- 1967-1971 Self Employed as an Registered Architect in Baltimore Maryland
- 1971-1981 Self Employed in his own firm Arikoglu Associates in İstanbul, Turkey.
Mr. Arıkoğlu married Architect /Y.Mimar Nezahat Suguder Arikoglu in 1947. For over 30 years they designed and supervised number of architectural projects both in Turkey and USA. Their architectural collaboration produced buildings that received recognition which were published as examples of excellence in Contemporary Architecture.
Mr. Ilhan Arikoglu passed away in 1981 and was survived by his son Kaya Arikoglu who continued their architectural practice in USA and Turkey.
