ATU KINDERGARTEN
Concept Sketch
Project Brief:
This project is a preschool-kindergarten complex with an integrated supermarket on the southern end. The triangular nature of the site informed an urban design approach that encloses a green courtyard, providing a safe, natural space for children to play in and experience controlled nature. The project consists of four modular classrooms linked by a corridor facing the main great outdoor space. This main inner corridor connects the classrooms, linking them to the main administration building, cafeteria and main entrance.
The project also features a modest music hall building positioned at an angle and detached from the overall structure for audio privacy reasons. The sculptural roofline of this building enhances acoustics properties of the interior space. Adjacent to and flanking the multipurpose room (The square structure at the east end of the great space) are two narrow exterior spaces: one dedicated to agricultural learning activities, and another with a pond where children can observe aquatic life.
The complex is surrounded by a two-meter perimeter wall, ensuring security and separation from the surrounding urban and agricultural environment. The design includes ample parking, service entrances, and an additional supermarket building on the south end, in accordance with the project’s programmatic requirements.
Simplicity and geometric clarity were the guiding principles in our design process, with the goal of achieving a balanced, orderly composition.
